The 2012 vintage was one of the most condensed seen in McLaren Vale with crushing completed by the end of March. The vintage was light in crop, but of excellent quality with Shiraz having excellent colour and flavour. Harvest weather conditions, during February and March, saw cool nights but warm days ideal for grape development. In response to this, vineyards typically developed two weeks earlier than normal, with Shiraz beginning at the end of February. By the start of March a large percentage of the district had already been harvested.

Tasting Notes

There’s good balance in this wine. The oak is prominent with a toasty note and dark ripe black fruit. Slippery flow of tannins gives a casing for slurpy, full-throttle fruit flavour and a long, slow chewy pucker. It’s a wine that will continue to open showing its mettle and thrust as it grows in the glass. If it’s full bore you’re after, this is pretty impressive.

Deep red with a vibrant purple hue.

Cellar 5 to 20 years.

Slippery flow of tannins gives a casing for slurpy, full-throttle fruit flavour and a long, slow chew of chalky pucker. It’s a wine that opened and opened and opened showing its mettle and thrust as it grew in the glass. If it’s full bore you’re after, this is pretty impressive.

This limited release sourced from Old low yielding Shiraz is only produced in outstanding vintages. The name ‘The Nude’ originates from the vineyard during vintage, where the fruit is picked later in the vintage with very little foliage. This creates a wine of intensity that is backed up by predominant American Oak Barriques creating an intense wine.

This wine can enjoyed on release, however, careful cellaring for 5 to 20 years will be rewarding.
